Talk Like a Pirate Day
Ahoy, me hearty! Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day. John Baur and Mark Summers whose pirate names are Ol' Chumbucket and Cap'n Slappy respective invented this holiday in 1995. It started as an inside joke between the friends and it quickly spread to other. When Dave Barry the famous humorist and syndicated columnist got a letter from the pirate day inventers, he promoted the holiday. Coupled with good media coverage it quickly became a well known event and it is now celebrated worldwide. Since its not a real holiday and people actually work on this day it get being celebrated at the workplace and folks talk in pirate language at work for this one day. Now "Bring me one noggin of rum, now, won't you, matey."
